Between nature and legend
French Polynesia offers the most beautiful sea in the world, and not only this. Tahiti and her Islands hide thousand of really spectacular jewels awaiting to be discovered. The Maison de la nature in Moorea and the Tiki Village help you to find out them by proposing a series of exciting and amazing activities for the whole family.
Going horse-riding, visiting a “ferme perliere”, spending a day as “in the past”… A wide range of proposals in order to learn how to discover this culture with fun.
Discovering the sweet green in Moorea
A really successful name: the Nature House. In this wonderful Victorian farm, located between two little rivers and with the Mou’a Roa and Tamarutofa peaks in the background, everything is organized in order to offer you a holiday characterized by relax, and wellness by discovering, at the same time, the lovely Polynesian nature.
A special present for your children who could choose among several activities. First of all, the walks leading to the luxuriant park (more than 450 hectares) surrounding the farm. The famous Four bridge path and the well-known walk leading to the passage of the Three coco palms will let you discover breathtaking corners and views surrounded by a magic and friendly nature. And for children aged 8 to 14 years, a very extraordinary program is available: a week-end characterized by walks around Moorea like a real Robinson Crusoe. Participants will learn how to organize a walk by physically train themselves, and by planning stops, nourishment, lugguage; they will learn to study weather, to use a compass and an altimeter, to find a place where to overnight, to collect eatable wild fruits, to cook in the forest, to take care of little hurts, to tie a useful knot, and to create or repair their own shoes, as well as to protect animals.
The most adventurous people can learn to climb trees, build a hut in the forest as well as a bow and an arrow. Young artists, instead, can try to make a wood sculpture, to dye fabrics with natural colors, and to learn local dances.
For those who want to discover the secret of the so beautiful and luxuriant Polynesian nature, the Maison organizes sections in which it is possible to observe and learn the secrets of botany.
While for those who do not want to lose the opportunities offered, the center organizes also 2-week stays for guys aged 8 to 16 years. Among the proposed activities: walks aimed at discovering the heart and the coast of the island, creation of typical objects of the Polynesian culture (ukulele, bracelets in natural fibers, sculptures in local wood, tiki, tapa dyed with natural colors) and learning of typical local dances and of some secrets of the Polynesian cuisine (e.g. kneading and baking bread in the traditional underground ovens, preparing a pineapple jam, fishing and cooking shrimps).
The very professional staff of the Maison is at guests’ disposal in order to organize cultural and recreational activities such as horse-riding, picnics on a motu, excursions in which it is possible to see whales and feed mantas as well as trips to a vanilla plantation or to a pearl farm, a safari by 4x4 and many other proposals.

Tiki village: deep in the maohi tradition
Polynesia means also a very rich, old and attractive culture. The Tiki village enables to personally discover old rites and habits. The village is open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 11 a.m. till 3 p.m.
In this village characterized by the typical fare, it is possible to observe the work of the Tiki sculptors, as well as the legendary skill of the tattoo artists known all over the world. Moreover, you will be amazed to see the skill of the vahine weaving baskets, carpets and the famous flower garlands, i.e. the colored and scented welcome symbol of these relaxing lands.
You can visit the Gauguin’s “Maison du jouir” (The House of Pleasure) where he spent the most happy years of his life, and discover the old Tahiti in the wonderful black and white photo collection by Fare Sylvain.
It will be possible to observe how the famous black pearl of Tahiti is collected and processed and then to take a seat in the restaurant facing the sea in order to taste the extraordinary delicious dishes of the local cuisine and watch a traditional dance show.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, from 6 p.m., the sound of ukulele welcome you on the beach where you can watch the special opening of the Tahitian underground ovens and taste the delicious tama’araa. After dinner, let you transport in the world of legends through a wonderful dance and story show performed by 60 artists, among which the famous fire dancers, who will take your breath away.
